About the Role

Swanwood Partnership are looking to welcome a healthcare assistant to their team. This position is offered on a part-time basis for 18–22 hours per week, with the possibility of increasing hours as the role evolves.
 
Main duties of the role include, but not limited to:
  • Carry out base-line observations such as pulse, oximetry, temperature, blood pressure and blood glucose levels, recording findings accurately.
  • Wound care, venepuncture, phlebotomy checks and administering of medicines and vaccines.
  • Ensure that all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
  • Update patient health records.
  • Ensure that medical supplies are in stock.
  • Act as a chaperone where required.
  • Assist GP during the performance of minor operations.
  • Communicate with patients, relatives, and carers including providing valuable health promotion and education.
  • New patient health checks.
The role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience, skills and competence, requiring you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
 

About the Candidate

To be considered for the position, you will have the following experience and skills:
  • Have previous HCA experience within a GP or primary care setting (essential)
  • Hold a recognised qualification
  • Be confident working independently while contributing positively to a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, professionalism and patient‑centred values
  • Be adaptable, reliable, and eager to develop new skills - particularly important in a training practice environment
  • Strong clinical skills including venepuncture/phlebotomy
  • Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidential manner with a compassionate and respectful approach, placing a high value on the dignity of patients, relatives, carers and colleagues
  • Ability to work independently, determining own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
