GP Assistant

• Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow up appointments of patients
• Undertaking any urgent observations as requested by the clinical team
• Dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs and phlebotomy
• Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign such as insurance forms, mortgage, benefits agency forms etc
• Explaining treatment procedures to patients
• Support the GP with immunisations/wound care
• Home BP readings
• Practice supply ordering including Injections and Ring Pessaries 
• Diabetes monitoring
• Child ADHD medication review observations
• Support IPC Lead
• Travel vaccines – ordering stock, checking when it arrives and liaising with Rec for appointments

• Confidence to deal with patient and hospital queries
• Previous strong administrative skills
• Good attention to detail
• Strong communication skills

Walton Medical Practice is situated in the traditional seaside resort of Walton on the Naze, on the Essex Coast. They have a list size of just over 8300 patients. As well as 2 Partners and 2 salaried GP’s, the Practice team also includes a Pharmacy technician, paramedic, a Nursing team of 8 and an efficient and effective Reception and Administrative team of 10
