Receptionist

Cobbs Garden Surgery is seeking a friendly and organised receptionist to join our busy GP practice team on a part-time basis, for 18 hours a week.

The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing excellent customer service while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
• Answer incoming telephone calls and deal with enquiries efficiently.
• Book, amend, and cancel patient appointments.
• Signpost prescription requests in line with practice procedures.
• Register new patients and update patient records accurately.
• Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence.
• Liaise with GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals as required.
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Assist with administrative duties to support the practice team.
• Ensure the reception area remains tidy and welcoming.

Previous reception or healthcare experience is preferred, however, we welcome applications from candidates with strong customer service skills and a positive attitude, even if they do not have previous experience in general practice, as full training will be provided for the right candidate.

• Good organisational and administrative abilities.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable

• Previous receptionist, customer service, or administrative experience.
• Experience working within a healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of the SystmOne clinical system would be advantageous, but is not essential.
• Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection requirements.

Cobbs Garden Surgery is based in Olney, a beautiful market town in north Buckinghamshire, and we also serve the surrounding villages.
