About the Role
East Anglia Children's Hospices (EACH), has an opportunity for a clinical nurse specialist to join our team on a full-time basis, although part-time hours of over 30 per week can be considered. The position is to work Monday to Friday and will entail working on-call hours in addition to working hours. 
 
Working within a large team of nurses and matrons at The Treehouse Hospice in Ipswich, this position will provide advanced level symptom management, care and support to children with life-threatening illnesses and complex health care needs. 
  
Main responsibilities include;
  • Participate in the 24/7 on-call rota, triaging telephone calls and undertake face-to-face visits to deliver symptom management service across the whole of EACH catchment area as required. 
  • Act as a contact point for symptom control and management issues within the region.
  • Undertake clinical assessment/consultation.
  • Manage a caseload within each catchment area. 
  • Develop and maintain specialist level palliative care knowledge and skills across a range of procedures and practices. 
  • Work collaboratively with the 'on-call' medical practitioners in the MCN/specialist team. 
  • Develop, review and evaluate comprehensive management plans coordinating and supporting their implementation.

About the Candidate
All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience:
  • RN child/RSCN or RN adult min of 3 years experience. 
  • RN learning disability with recent demonstrated clinical experience of provision of palliative and end of life care for babies, young people, min 3 years experience. 
  • Knowledge of current legislation relating to children and young people. 
  • IT literate.
  • Experience of managing staff and resources.
  • Experience of using SystmOne. 
  • Must have full UK driving license and own transport. 
  • Ability to provide on-call and on-standby clinical care (respond out of hours).
