About the Role

The Reynard Surgery is looking for a salaried GP to join our busy practice, 4sessions a week on a Wednesday and Friday.
 
The Reynard Surgery is a rural practice in Red Lodge approx. 15 miles from Bury St Edmunds, 3 miles from Newmarket and 19 miles from the centre of Cambridge. We have an experienced mix of GPs, Advanced nurse practitioners, practice nurses, paramedic, pharmacists, and administrative colleagues who work together seamlessly. You’ll never feel like you’re working alone.
 
We are a busy practice that prioritises safe working whilst ensuring an effective turnover of appointments. The team proactively manages workflow, clinical admin, and correspondence to keep workloads balanced and sustainable. We foster open communication, shared decision‑making, and a genuinely supportive atmosphere. With streamlined processes, up‑to‑date digital tools, and a strong approach to QOF and enhanced services, we make your work easier. We encourage GPs to explore clinical specialisms and PCN‑wide initiatives.
 
Working as part of our multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to support and care for a diverse patient group. The role will include all general duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care:
  • Undertaking a variety of duties including surgery face to face, online and telephone consultations,  and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion;
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting medical problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation;
  • Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems;
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness;
  • Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols;
  • Providing health education;
  • Recording clear consultation notes to agreed standards;
  • Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements;
  • Delivering enhanced services;
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.

About the Candidate

  • Fully qualified GP with GMC registration and on the NHS performers list
  • Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate)
  • Good understanding and experience of chronic disease management, and primary prevention and screening services;
  • Ability to take responsibility for your own career development, learning and performance and are responsible for ensuring that all your mandatory training is in date;
  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety;
  • Commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a confidential manner.

About Us

The Reynard Surgery is a warm, well‑established GP practice in Red Lodge with a GOOD CQC registation.  Red Lodge is a rural village on the out skirts of Bury St Edmunds with a patient population of just over 10k. We have a younger population with many families moving into the local area due to new building developments in the immediate area. We have a strong reputation for high‑quality, patient‑centred primary care. As our population is continually growing.
 
 We are a friendly, collaborative practice with a focus on continuity, safety, and creating a positive working environment. We are part of the large Forest Heath PCN (73k patients) and work collaboratively as part of this. You will be joining a team that works cohesively across clinical and administrative roles to ensure manageable workloads and excellent care for our patients.
