About the Role

Long Stratton Medical Partnership are seeking a locum Practice Nurse for 1, 2, or 3 full days per week for 3 months with immediate start if possible. This is a short term cover for maternity leave only.

We are looking for an individual who is confident and knowledgeable, able to feel comfortable running a clinic book straight away. There will be over-sight from our nurses but we need someone who can be independent and work on their own initiative.

You must be fully trained and experienced in all long term conditions, plus cervical screening, vaccinations and immunisations.

Other responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Undertaking health assessments, administering medication and treatments, and performing diagnostic tests.
  • Providing and evaluating a range of health interventions to ensure that patients’ health and social care needs are met.
  • General health and well-being promotion as well as creating individual, person-centred plans for patients.
  • Managing and treating long-term conditions, in line with national and local policies and the practice needs.
  • Reviewing medication.
  • Supporting and managing the health needs of women presenting for sexual health and contraception, and cervical cytology consultations.
  • Implementing, and participating in, vaccination and immunisation programmes for both adults and children, including patients travelling abroad.

About the Candidate

All applicants should have the following qualifications, registrations, skills and experience:
  • A relevant nursing degree.
  • Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
  • Evidence of clinical skills and experience in treatment room consultation, management of long-term conditions, cervical cytology sampling, vaccinations and immunisations.
  • Compassionate manner with an empathetic approach and demonstrable kindness in all aspects of your work.
  • Knowledge, and experience of its application, in supporting long-term conditions.
  • Insight and understanding of current issues in nursing and the wider NHS.

About Us

At Long Stratton Medical Partnership, we take pride in being a family focused, close knit team – our ‘work family’ is how we often describe ourselves. We offer a supportive, positive culture which is well-lead, and provide regular supervision and training for all staff.
Long Stratton is a small town in South Norfolk, 10 miles from the historic city of Norwich.  We have 11,500 patients on our list, a CQC rating of ‘Good’ and operate from both our main site and a branch site in Newton Flotman.  We are also a dispensing Practice with a dispensing list of around 5,500 patients.  We use SystmOne and run cloud-based telephony which links seamlessly with the clinical system and provides excellent functionality.
We have completed our surgery expansion work with a new wing being added to include 7 clinical rooms. The reason for the expansion is that Long Stratton is being bypassed, 2,000 new homes are planned and therefore potentially 5,000-6,000 new patients will be joining us.
